Automated Distribution Centre Derrimut, Victoria
BACKGROUND
Empire Cranes was brought in to conduct a site inspection of the new robotic racking and sorting system in a DC in Derrimut. We were asked to provide in-depth lift plans to conduct very tight spaced, confined lifts of conveyor systems, automated robots, and automated pallet elevators for the customer.
OUTCOMES
A new fully automated DC built into an existing warehouse, where the client wants to maximise the space within the centre completely. This is an ever evolving challenge for the crane team to find the right crane for each lift. There were multiple lifts between each of the 5 racking levels to insert robots, and the pallet elevators had only 400mm clearance on some occasions between the top of the elevator and the roof rafters.
